Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona are now convinced that Clement Lenglet will make a permanent transfer to north London. The deal may even go through before June 30.
That is according to Sport, which reports that Tottenham and Barcelona feel can they agree to terms for Lenglet by the end of the month. Even though the two clubs had to delay their planned meeting scheduled for this week. They now intend to convene in the coming days.
Barcelona are determined to see Lenglet secure a permanent switch away from Camp Nou before July 1. The La Liga champions are even demanding that Tottenham finalise a deal for his transfer this month. They have no interest in seeing him return after a term out on loan.

How much are Tottenham willing to pay for Lenglet’s transfer?
Tottenham, for their part, would like to buy Lenglet in a permanent transfer from Barcelona after his campaign on loan with them. But Spurs have no interest in paying the Blaugrana in excess of €5m (£4m) plus a percentage of any future fee if they must take on his high wage.
Lenglet impressed the Spurs hierarchy during his time in north London to convince them to pursue a permanent transfer. But the 27-year-old is set to receive €10m-a-year (£164k-a/w) net upon his return to Camp Nou. So, Tottenham hope Barcelona will give them a discount.
The terms of Lenglet’s loan transfer included the option for Tottenham to buy the defender for €12m (£10m). But given the size of the Frenchman’s salary in Spain, Spurs want to pay a much lower fee to balance the deal. Fortunately, Barcelona are willing to take a lower sum.

Barcelona and Lenglet are now verging on a split this summer
A chance to return to Tottenham in a permanent transfer delights Lenglet having played 35 times whilst on loan. He can also expect Spurs to present him with a long-term contract to further balance the costs. While the centre-half’s return should also thrill Cristian Romero.
The Argentine explained in September, via quotes by football.london: “We’ve built a good working relationship within the group since his arrival and we’re helping him to integrate as fast as possible. As a player, he’s excellent and he’s going to add a lot to the group.”
