Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea are now being linked with a blockbuster move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe.

The Times are reporting this morning that Chelsea are interested in signing Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.

The former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners will reportedly register their interest in the France international forward.

The Times (9:30am, June 13, 2023) have added that Mbappe has told PSG that he does not want to extend his contract beyond 2024.

This means that the Ligue 1 champions will either have to let the 24-year-old leave on a free next summer or sell the £893,000-a-week (The Sun) forward now.

The report has claimed that Manchester City want to sign Mbappe last summer before they brought in Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, adding that Real Madrid are now the favourites for the Frenchman.

Karim Benzema has left Madrid this summer, and Los Blancos are now on the hunt for a top-quality striker.

The Times have added that Manchester United are also an option for Mbappe, who was described as “a fast player” who has “great charisma” by Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino in Gazzetta dello Sport.

The former Tottenham Hotspur head coach worked with Mbappe when he was the PSG manager.

Potentially blockbuster signing for Chelsea

In our view, PSG forward Kylian Mbappe would be a blockbuster signing for Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

Now, of course, it remains to be seen if Chelsea are able to pay the huge transfer fee that PSG would ask for the 24-year-old as well as satisfy the forward’s salary demands.

But, we have no doubt that Mbappe would be a stunning signing for the Blues.

Chelsea need to sign a world-class forward in the summer transfer window, and Mbappe is just that.

And he is only 24.

Mbappe is a very versatile forward who scores goals and helps in building attacks.

The former AS Monaco star’s pace is frightening, and we believe that he would be a massive success in the Premier League, just like Erling Haaland has been.
