Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United have reportedly taken a stance over Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison.

90min are reporting today that Newcastle United want to sign James Maddison from Leicester City in the summer transfer window.

The Foxes are willing to sell the England international playmaker this summer.

However, the former Premier League champions want between £55 million and £60 million for the 26-year-old.

And, according to the report, Newcastle are not willing to pay that much for Maddison, described as “a talented and intelligent footballer” by former Tottenham Hotspur striker Gary Lineker on Twitter in March 2023.

90min have claimed that Newcastle “are reluctant to offer” more than the £50 million they bid for Maddison in the summer of 2022.

Could Newcastle United sign Leicester City star James Maddison?

In our view, Newcastle United could struggle to sign James Maddison if they do not pay more than the £50 million they are wiling to offer.

Now, of course, Leicester will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League.

However, the Foxes are a well-run club, and they may not be willing to simply sell Maddison for anything less than what they want.

And let us not forget that Newcastle are not the only club who are in for Maddison.

According to 90min, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United all have interest in Maddison.
