Sam Allardyce says Daniel Levy would be ‘rubbing his hands’ at the possibility of Leicester City star James Maddison securing a summer transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.

The former Premier League boss thinks Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham will sign James Maddison this summer following Leicester City’s relegation to the Championship.

The 26-year-old England international was expected to move before the Foxes dropped down a division, so whoever gets him now, will probably pay a cut-price deal, with Allardyce stating that it would be a ‘lovely deal’ for Daniel Levy, as he told No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast.

There is now clarity behind the doors of Hotspur Way because, months after waiting, the fans know who their new manager is and it will allow things to move forward.

Ever since Christian Eriksen’s exit during the January transfer window of 2020, Spurs have needed that quick-thinking playmaker in their midfield, so don’t be surprised if it’s one of the first areas Postecoglou targets.

But when Allardyce was asked where he can see Maddison playing next season, he didn’t hesitate to put forward Tottenham’s name.

“Tottenham,” responded Allardyce when asked about Maddison’s next move. “It’s a lovely Daniel deal that one, isn’t it?! He will be rubbing his hands. Keep him fit and he improves Tottenham.”

Maddison would thrive under Postecoglou

Attacking and front-foot football is now expected to return to Spurs, which is something the fans should look forward to after years of defensive stagnation.

But, in order for Postecoglou to really work his magic, then he needs the ingredients and that’s where Levy needs to put his hands in his pockets and serve his new manager the players.

A signing like Maddison would bring the fans instantly on board and the goalscoring midfielder, who netted ten for a relegation-threatened side this season, would fit that bill, no doubt.
