Reported Liverpool target Mateo Kovacic has been warned about a potential move to Manchester City from Chelsea.
Liverpool and Manchester City have been linked with Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic in the summer transfer window.
90min reported on April 22 that Liverpool and City are keen on the Croatia international and were set to hold talks with the midfielder’s agents.
In early May, journalist Dean Jones reported in GiveMeSport that City’s interest in the midfielder “is genuine”.
Now it seems that between Liverpool and City, it is the latter who are pressing ahead with their interest in the former Real Madrid star.
TalkSPORT have reported that City have agreed personal terms with Kovacic and are confident of completing a deal with Chelsea, who are willing to sell the 29-year-old.
Former Chelsea and France star Frank Leboeuf has given his take on a potential move for Kovacic to City and has warned the Croatian about lack of playing time at the Premier League champions.
Leboeuf told Si & Dan Talk Chelsea: “If he goes to City, where is he going to play?
“Is he going to start over Rodri for example? No, I don’t think so. Do you want to play 20 games a season at City, or go to another team playing 50 games a season?”

Should Mateo Kovacic pick Liverpool over Manchester City?
Manchester City are a hugely appealing club for any player now, especially after manager Pep Guardiola led them to a third successive Premier League title.
However, as Leboeuf has noted, the midfielder could struggle to play week in and week out for a City team who have arguably the best midfield department in the world.
And he is 29.
So, it is not as if Kovacic is at the stage in his life where he can be a squad player.
Liverpool are in desperate need of new midfielders.
Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all are leaving the Merseyside side this summer.
Thiago has had injury problems, and there are suggestions that Fabinho is not the same player he once was.
So, Kovacic would be able to get into the Liverpool starting lineup straightaway.
Maybe the Chelsea midfielder should reconsider his plans to move to City and think about joining Liverpool instead.
There is still time.
