Celtic are eyeing West Ham United boss David Moyes as they consider replacements for Tottenham Hotspur target Ange Postecoglou.

David Moyes is likely to be targeted by Celtic with Ange Postecoglou seemingly on the verge of moving to Tottenham Hotspur.

That is according to The Scottish Sun, who claim that Postecoglou to Tottenham could be confirmed early next week.

Spurs have made Postecoglou their top target to replace Antonio Conte having missed out on Feyenoord’s Arne Slot last week.

Tottenham haven’t made their move just yet though as they want to honour Celtic and they Scottish Cup final plans.

A firm move is expected very soon though and Celtic are starting to identify replacements for the Australian.

One of them is thought to be David Moyes with the West Ham boss a ‘likely contender’ for the Parkhead hot seat.

Moyes has long been expected to leave West Ham this summer, but his job has seemed safe in recent weeks having secured survival and a spot in the Europa Conference League final.

Celtic could make their move though in what would be an emotional switch for Moyes.

David Moyes would be a surprise choice for Celtic

On the one hand, Moyes to Celtic adds up in some ways.

The 60-year-old was born in Glasgow and emerged at Celtic as a player in the 1980’s.

Moyes managed more than 20 first-team appearances for Celtic before heading to Cambridge United in 1983.

Way back in 2010, Moyes admitted that he wants to become Celtic boss one day in the future.

13 years on, that opportunity could arise but we would be surprised to see the Bhoys make a move.

Postecoglou to Moyes is a major change in style; Postecoglou has pushed high-pressing, attractive football to entertain fans.

Moyes isn’t of the same mould and Celtic would be committing to a major change if they did make this move.

We think some left-field candidates – just as Postecoglou was in 2021 – will be in the mix and that Moyes will ultimately stay at West Ham.
