Tottenham Hotspur are set to ramp up their interest in appointing Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou in the coming days.

Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou appears to be emerging as Tottenham Hotspur’s top managerial target.

That is according to a report from the London Evening Standard, who report that Tottenham are stepping up their interest in Postecoglou.

It’s stated that Tottenham will ramp up their move for Postecoglou after Celtic’s Scottish Cup final clash with Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday evening.

That game will bring the curtain down on Celtic’s campaign and Tottenham will seize the chance to go for Postecoglou.

Daniel Levy is understood to have been left very impressed with Postecoglou’s work at Celtic and now wants him at Tottenham.

Spurs were looking to land a young, up-and-coming manager – a profile Postecoglou doesn’t quite fit at 57 years of age.

Yet having missed out on Feyenoord’s Arne Slot last week, Spurs are turning to Postecoglou in the hope that he can bring his superb brand of football to North London.

Scott Munn connection key for Tottenham in Ange Postecoglou chase

The report also highlights that Scott Munn is a real admirer of Postecoglou as Tottenham prepare their move.

Munn is arriving as Tottenham’s new chief football officer this summer and will effectively work as Daniel Levy’s right-hand man.

The connections between Munn and Postecoglou are clear.

Firstly, both are Australians. Postecoglou is certainly the most high-profile Australian manager around right now and coached their national team from 2013 to 2017.

Munn will surely have been aware of Postecoglou’s work for years now but the links go a little deeper.

Munn spent nearly 10 years working for the City Football Group, serving as the chief executive of their operations in China.

Postecoglou was also in the City Football Group, spending three years as manager of Japanese side Yokohama F. Marinos.

Munn may have focused on China but it would have been difficult to avoid seeing a fellow Australian shine elsewhere in Asia.

There could be a real Australian flavour arriving at Tottenham this summer – but expect Celtic to put up a real fight to keep their ‘magnificent’ manager.
