Jay Bothroyd has said that Arsenal should sell Folarin Balogun in the summer transfer window.

The former Arsenal academy player has told FourFourTwo that the Gunners could get £40 million in transfer fees for Folarin Balogun if they decide to cash in on him in the summer of 2023.

The 21-year-old striker is on loan at Reims from Arsenal at the moment.

The youngster is scheduled to return to his parent club Arsenal at the end of the season.

Balogun has made 32 starts and three substitute appearances in Ligue 1 for Reims this season.

The striker has scored 20 goals and given two assists in those games.

Balogun has also scored one goal in one Coupe de France match for Reims this campaign.

Bothroyd said: “The first one I’d say would be [Folarin] Balogun. He’s been playing in France this year. I’d sell him because he’s done so well, you could get £40 million-ish, I would say.”

What should Arsenal do about Folarin Balogun?

In our view, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta should take a close look at Folarin Balogun in pre-season.

Yes, the striker is only 21, but he has done extremely well in Ligue 1 this season.

True, the Premier League is at a different level to the French top flight, but for a young striker to score 20 goals in Ligue 1 is no easy feat.

We believe that Arsenal should give Balogun a chance in pre-season and take it from there.
