Gary Neville has suggested that he understands why Jurgen Klopp would be keen on Mason Mount signing for Liverpool.
In a video shared by Football Daily, the Sky pundit gave his two cents on the England international’s future.
As Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool are looking to bolster their midfield in the summer, Gary Neville seemed to agree with targeting Mason Mount.

Former Chelsea coach Jody Morris admitted on Thursday that the Champions League winner could perhaps end up at Anfield.
Through injuries, poor form and losing his place in the side, Mount, once branded as a ‘mad player’ by Rio Ferdinand on his YouTube show has been blasted by fans and pundits alike after his stock has plummeted.
However, Gary Neville understands why Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool may want to see Mason Mount play his football in Merseyside next season.
“Mason Mount is a coach’s player. That’s the best way to describe him. I think there have been many that I’ve seen in my lifetime in football where they probably get more respect from the coaching staff for what they do than they do, maybe by the fans that are watching them because their output in goals or assists, or tackles or other things that are maybe noticeable aren’t as much as people would like.”
Gary Neville seemed to suggest that in particular, managers like Jurgen Klopp would fancy Mason Mount playing for Liverpool due to multiple reasons.
“But what they do is they glue teams together, they fill in gaps, they trigger presses, they know when to win the ball back and can counter-attack. I’m not surprised he’s a target for many managers.”
It would be reactionary to write Mason Mount off
Gary Neville has hit the nail on the head about Mason Mount, and it is no coincidence why ‘Big Six’ clubs like Liverpool and perhaps even top coaches like Jurgen Klopp still rate him highly.
One disappointing season should not dictate how Mount is valued as a player.
Perhaps the lack of a standout trait or aesthetics mean the Englishman’s ability has been written off.
The truth is that Mason Mount has shown time and again that he ticks a number of boxes in his game; technically proficient, industrious, tactically intelligent and capable of producing end product.
To completely question that all of a sudden due to the Chelsea midfielder’s dip in form would be jumping on the bandwagon.
