Tina Turner reportedly once insured her famous legs and it’s the talk of the internet following her tragic death this week.
The singer passed away at her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland after a “long illness” and her death was announced on social media.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner,” a statement on her official Instagram page said.
“With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow.”
“Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly.”
Tina Turner was best known for tracks Proud Mary and What’s Love Got to Do with It, and her killer legs…

Tina Turner reportedly insured her legs
A rumor has long existed online that the music icon insured her legs for a whopping $3.2 million at the peak of her career.
The legendary singer never actually confirmed it, but it’s not uncommon for celebrities to insure their best body parts.
Heidi Klum reportedly insured her legs for $2.2 million, Holly Madison took out $1 million insurance for her breasts and Mariah Carey allegedly insured her vocal chords for $35 million.
It seems like an odd thing to do, but taking out insurance on your best assets is a way of supplementing lost income if the body part is damaged or injured.
Without her incredible legs, Tina would have no longer been able to do photoshoots or dance on stage – so it certainly makes sense.

Her legs are famous
In a recent interview with The Sun just before her death, Turner said: “Sometimes I think I’m as famous for my legs as much as my voice.”
“I only had my legs on show so much as it made it much easier to dance,” she added. “And then it became part of my style.”
“When I was younger I never felt confident about any part of my body, but with all the attention my legs received, I realised they must be ok!”
She became known for wearing short miniskirts and dresses which showed off her limbs – but Tina never liked her legs growing up.
“I always thought they were too long and skinny,” she said in her memoir. “I felt like an awkward pony, so I never wanted to show them off.”
“When I wore short skirts onstage it was for a practical reason – they gave me the freedom to move, and I really like to move.”

She dedicated a song to them
In 1993, the star released a song dedicated to her famous legs.
“She’s got legs/ She knows how to use them/ She never begs,” the track begins. “She knows how to choose them/ She’s holdin’ legs/ Wonderin’ how to feel them.”
Tina also often performed Rod Stewart’s track Hot Legs at her gigs and released a version with Tom Jones as a single in 1997.
In the same year, she performed the track with Rod himself on Saturday Night Live and they duetted at one of his concerts at the LA Forum.
“Hot legs, you’re wearin’ me out/ Hot legs, you can scream and shout/ Hot legs, are you still in school?/ I love you honey,” the track says.
