As fans countdown to the long-awaited premiere of season 15 on US Netflix, let’s meet the superb cast of the Heartland drama series.
Stunning filming locations and relatable storylines may dominate the global Heartland conversation, but the series is undoubtedly carried by its superb cast of characters.
This week, fans of the popular CBC series in the US will finally get the chance to watch season 15 when it releases via Netflix on May 31 with 10 new episodes.

Famous Roles: Elizabeth Smart in The Elizabeth Smart Story

Marshall made her professional debut in 2000 playing Ally in the Super Rupert TV series before gaining minor roles in Twice in a Lifetime (2001), The Christmas Shows (2002), and Doc (2002).
The 34-year-old made her first breakthrough in 2003 when she portrayed the titular Elizabeth Smart in The Elizabeth Smart Story, followed up by cameo appearances in Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004) and Dark Oracle (2004).
Whilst Heartland has easily been her biggest and most popular role so far, she has also featured in Mutant World as Nicole (2014), With Nothing But Our Courage as Mary (2020), and Love in Harmony Valley as Emma (2020).
Horses play a major role in Marshall’s personal life even when away from the Heartland cameras; caring for several companions on the ranch she runs with her husband Shawn Turner in southern Alberta, Canada.

Michelle Morgan as Lou Fleming
Famous Roles: F.R.A.N. in Stargate Atlantis

Morgan made her professional debut in 1999 when she played Rebecca in Road Rage; however, it wouldn’t be until 2007 that she made her breakthrough as Lou in Heartland.
That same year, she played Donna in the Fire Serpent movie and had a cameo in Across the River to Motor City, before landing her second notable role as F.R.A.N (Dr Elizabeth Weir) in Stargate Atlantis (2008).
The 41-year-old has also had minor appearances in the likes of The L Word (2008), Supernatural (2015), The Good Doctor (2018), and Batwoman (2019). Her only other major role was in the Deep Six web series as Athea from 2018.
Marshall is also a star behind the camera as well as in front of it, founding her own production studio called Medano Films in 2018 and will develop an upcoming post-apocalyptic western film called The Plains.

Shaun Johnston as Jack Bartlett

Johnston made his professional debut in 1990 with his first major role coming in 1995 when he played Pete Calcagni in The X-Files, before landing the role of Roy Cares in Mentors the next year.
Outside of Heartland, fans may recognize the 64-year-old as D.A. Dollog from Mystery Alaska (1999), Colonel Nelson Miles in Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (2007), and Jordan’s dad in Smallville (2001).
The iconic actor isn’t just a well-known presence on the small screen but also on the Canadian stage after co-founding the Shadow Theatre Company, which remains one of Edmonton’s most successful theatre outlets.

Alisha Newton as Georgie Fleming-Morris
Famous Roles: Helen in Devil in Ohio

Newton made her professional debut in 2010 when she featured in the TV movie The Wyoming Story, before making a cameo appearance in Supernatural (2010).
She would then feature in the No Place Like Home (2012) short film as Dorothy, a performance that earned her a nomination for Best Performance in a Short Film for Young Actresses Ten and Under.

Chris Potter as Tim Fleming
Famous Roles: Gambit/Remy LaBeau in X-Men

Potter made his professional debut in 1988’s The Waiting Game and it wasn’t long before he landed two major roles as Gambit/Remy LaBeau in X-Men (1992), and Peter Caine in Kung Fu: The Legend Continues (1993).
The 62-year-old has also featured in the likes of Will & Grace (2000), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2004), The Pacifier (2005), One Tree Hill (2005), Outside of his role on Heartland, Potter is arguably best known for playing Jake Russel in The Good Witch franchise (2008) and Dr David Cameron in Queer as Folk (2000).
The major change to the Heartland cast was Graham Wardle, who played Ty Borden and left the show to pursue other career opportunities at the end of season 13.
Season 15 featured the introduction of Finn Cotter, played by the late Robert Cormier, and saw actress Baye McPherson take over the role of Katie Fleming Morris – the character was played by Julia Maren Baker in seasons 8-12, and then again by Ziya Matheson in seasons 12-14.
Heartland season 15 arrives on US Netflix on May 31, with season 16 having already finished airing in Canada earlier this year.
