Before her fame, Madelyn Cline went to Coastal Carolina University where she reportedly took Theatre as her major.
The 25-year-old decided to drop out of college in 2017 and spoke about the difficult conversation with her parents.
“So, I called my mom and said, ‘Hey, are you sitting down?’ And I told her, ‘You know what? I know this is what you guys want me to do, but it’s not what I want to do, so I’m going to drop out and I’m going to move out to LA and I don’t need help, but I just would wish for your support.’”
Madelyn’s mom took the news well and immediately showed support for her daughter, “she just said, ‘All right, I’ll handle your dad.’”
As a youngster, her parents had taken her to New York and more during summers and she’d filmed commercials for brands such as T-Mobile and Sunny D. Her desire to take the risk and pursue her dream can’t have come as much of a surprise to her parents, but it’s still great how supportive they were.
Thankfully, the Netflix star found success pretty quickly upon moving to Los Angeles to pursue her dream. At first, she just had smaller roles in TV shows such as Boy Erased and Vice Principals. This then moved on to recurring roles in bigger shows like Stranger Things and The Originals.
It was then in 2018 that she was cast as Sarah Cameron in the Netflix hit, Outer Banks. The show was confirmed for a fourth season earlier this year.

Prior to college, Madelyn attended Charleston Day School and Pinewood Preparatory School.
The actress was born in South Carolina and grew up in Goose Creek. Spending her entire life in the state apart from trips out for acting and modeling gigs.
It wasn’t until Madelyn dropped out of college that she moved out and into LA to pursue acting. Understandably, she doesn’t have any plans to return to and finish college and her career goes from strength to strength.
