Gary Neville has praised former Tottenham Hotspur player Kieran Trippier for the impact he is making at Champions League-bound, Newcastle United.
On Monday night, Eddie Howe’s Newcastle recorded that much-needed point that helped them secure that all-important top-four spot.
Kieran Trippier, who joined during the January transfer window of 2022, has played a huge part in the club’s rise and Neville thinks he is a ‘high-quality’ operator, as he told Sky Sports Premier League (22/05/23 at 10:15 pm).

When the England international moved to St James’ Park, the new Saudi-led ownership has just come in and the club were in a relegation battle.
Fast forward to the present and the Magpies are now preparing to play in Europe’s elite competition for the first time since the early noughties.
Trippier played in that competition for many, many years with Tottenham and Atletico Madrid, as Neville stated that Howe needs more players like the 32-year-old in his team.
“I was just looking there at Kieran Trippier,” said Neville. “I think there is no player that epitomises Newcastle and Eddie Howe than Kieran Trippier.
“He is high-quality, reliable and fantastic. You can imagine the standards he sets in that dressing room. They need more of those types of players.”

TOTTENHAM NEED A PLAYER LIKE TRIPPIER
Whilst Newcastle benefit from Trippier’s presence in their dressing room, it’s something his former club are missing in a massive way.
Tottenham sold the 41-cap England star back in 2019. He joined Atletico where he would go on to win the La Liga title under the stewardship of Diego Simeone.
There is no doubt that Trippier has this no-nonsense style, drive and leadership qualities to his game. Something Tottenham could do with right now.
