Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is trying to get his future sorted before Sunday’s game against Wolves, according to journalist Charles Watts.

There is every chance that Granit Xhaka plays his final game for Arsenal at the weekend when Mikel Arteta’s side bow out for the 2022/23 Premier League season against Wolves.

There has been talk that Xhaka could head back to Germany and join Bayer Leverkusen. Goal correspondent Watts shared that the player is ‘trying to put pressure’ on those in the boardroom to get a deal done before the Premier League finale, as he told Arsenal news from the press box.

Unless there is a dramatic change, it seems as though Xhaka’s seven-year spell in north London is coming to an end and what a journey it has been for the one-time captain.

The 30-year-old, during these past two seasons, has probably hit the best form of his Arsenal career and his leadership qualities will be a huge miss to the club.

But will he get the farewell that the hard-hitting midfielder deserves? Well, as of this moment, the answer is no, but anything could change during these coming days.

“We are still waiting on developments with Granit Xhaka,” said Watts. “Nothing coming out on the club, just yet.

“Yesterday, as much as Granit was trying to put pressure and wants something sorted out before the game against Wolves. Talks are still ongoing.

“Of course, that could change at any moment. An agreement can be reached, at any moment. So, there is still plenty of time for something to come out before Sunday’s game.

“Talking with someone yesterday, it’s still very much ongoing. Nothing absolutely finalised yet, so we are going to have to wait for what happens with Granit Xhaka.”

XHAKA’S TURNAROUND AT ARSENAL

A lot of people are eating humble pie over Xhaka, no more so than Ian Wright, who admitted that he has got it wrong with the player.

It just so happens to be that, as soon as the Swiss star hits his best form, he is already out of the door.

It seems as though there are personal reasons behind his decision, which will be respected by the fans because he has given some strong years of service to the team.
