Eberechi Eze has distanced himself from reported interest from Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United as he goes from strength-to-strength at Premier League outfit Crystal Palace.

It’s safe to say now that the injury which wrecked Eberechi Eze’s hopes of featuring at Euro 2021 – while stunting all that early progress at Crystal Palace – is now firmly in the rearview mirror.

The former Queens Park Rangers talisman is back to doing what he does better than most; gliding through tackles and bringing the ball under control like a ballerina pirouetting her way through a rendition of Swan Lake at the Bolshoi

Is Eberechi Eze a target for Liverpool, Tottenham or Newcastle?

Eze has scored six goals in the Premier League since Roy Hodgson returned to take Patrick Vieira’s spot on the bench in late-March. And, by his own admission, Palace’s ‘number ten’ is currently playing the best football of his career.

“Yeah probably. I feel like I’ve got the freedom to play, to do my thing,” Eze tells The Standard. “I’m just happy to be enjoying my football.”

Like back in 2021, Eze’s scintillating displays are going hand-in-hand with rumour and speculation. But, when put to him that the likes of Liverpool, Spurs and long-time admirers Newcastle United could make moves during the upcoming summer window, the one-time Arsenal kid insisted that he would not be letting his focus drift from beyond the four corners of the football pitch

“I’m not really too bothered about that. I’m just focusing on the present,” he adds. “I want to continue enjoying it and contributing to the team as much as I can. I’m improving every game.”

‘Mesmerising’

With Wilfried Zaha out of contract, Crystal Palace are unlikely to be entertaining any offers for a man who is likely to step into the Ivorian’s footsteps; from creator-in-chief to the main man on Selhurst campus.

“Ebs’ quality is incredible,” Palace team-mate Joel Ward beamed following Eze’s sumptous solo goal against Bournemouth recently.

“What he does on the ball, the way he manipulates it and the way he just seems to glide over the pitch…

“It’s mesmerising at times. And he’s doing the other side of the game as well, which we need him to do in midfield. He’s taking control and linking up beautifully with the front guys. All-round, he’s developing, he’s moving up, and his future will be very, very bright.”
