Shaka Hislop has told Chelsea-owned Romelu Lukaku, currently on-loan at Inter, to secure a summer transfer to Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United.
On Monday night, Newcastle United have a chance to secure Champions League football for next season, that’s if they, at least, secure a point against relegation-threatened, Leicester City.
If that’s achieved, then the summer business the Magpies conclude will be interesting, with Hislop wanting his former club to bring in an ‘out-and-out striker’, as he dropped Romelu Lukaku’s name into the hat, whilst speaking to ESPN.

The 30-year-old is currently on-loan at Inter, who in midweek reached the Champions League final, after they saw off bitter rivals, AC Milan.
After securing a big-money transfer back to Chelsea in 2021, life was tough for the Belgian from the get-go under Thomas Tuchel, therefore, it wasn’t a surprise that he was shipped back to Inter 12 months later.
But whilst Lukaku would want to continue his footballing journey in Italy, former goalkeeper Hislop wouldn’t mind seeing him in the colours of Newcastle.
“If I am Newcastle, right now, then I am thinking of an out-and-out centre-forward,” said Hislop. “Maybe take the place of Callum Wilson. Play alongside Isak.
“Lukaku is a shout. What about Lukaku? Come to Newcastle!”

LUKAKU WOULD THRIVE UNDER EDDIE HOWE
Yes, Newcastle have Callum Wilson that can play the number nine role, as well as Alexander Isak, but the latter is versatile, whilst the duo’s injury record can’t be trusted heading into a busy 2023/24 season.
Therefore, pushing for a player of Lukaku’s ilk wouldn’t be a bad idea. Yes, things didn’t go well for him at Stamford Bridge – Ian Wright thinks he doesn’t want to go back.
But a big reason behind that was the lack of service he was getting and how he wasn’t the focal point. Someone like Eddie Howe has the capabilities to ensure that Lukaku sings and dances in that number nine role.
