Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are reportedly getting close to securing the services of West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.

Football Transfers have reported that Arsenal’s “negotiations for Declan Rice are getting closer to completion”.

The report has added that that West Ham United and England international midfielder is “looking more and more likely to move to the Emirates ahead of next season”.

Football Transfers had earlier reported that Arsenal are willing to pay £80 million for Rice, described as “a diamond and a fabulous player” by former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves on Premier League Productions (29/04/23 at 11:50 am).

Declan Rice update exciting for Arsenal

In our view, the latest update on the future of Declan Rice is very exciting for Arsenal fans.

Rice, 24, is one of the best midfielders around.

We believe that the West Ham star would make Arsenal a better and stronger team in the middle of the park.

While Arsenal do have a very good and solid midfield department, Rice would be another valuable option for manager Mikel Arteta.

Rice could play alongside Thomas Partey in the middle of the park and shield the Arsenal back-four better.

The 24-year-old has helped West Ham escape the dreaded drop to the Championship and has also played a big role in the Hammers reaching the final of the UEFA Europa Conference League this season.

There is speculation that Granit Xhaka could leave Arsenal at the end of the season, so Rice could just replace him in the starting lineup.
