Jamie Carragher has reminded Manchester City of Liverpool’s dominance in Europe after the Premier League side booked their Champions League final ticket against Inter Milan by beating Real Madrid on Wednesday night.
The former defender thinks Manchester City should be ‘dominating’ Europe for what they have and ‘only Liverpool’ have been able to do that when it comes to English teams.
The Liverpool legend aimed a dig at rivals Manchester United by using them as an example and how they never managed to dominate Europe, despite their success on the domestic stage, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (17/05/23 at 10:10 pm).

Well, Pep Guardiola is on course to help his team win a third Premier League title in a row.
And, after seeing off Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League, they are now on course to win a historic treble, with Inter Milan and Manchester United in the FA Cup final standing in their way.
These next few weeks could become very, very interesting as history could be created, with Carragher sending Man City a message.
“There is only one team, and I am not trying to bring Liverpool into this, that has dominated Europe and that’s Liverpool in the late 70s and early 80s’,” said Carragher.
“Manchester City are about to win their third league title, no one has ever won four (in a row). So, in terms of English football, domestically, they are up there with the absolute best. Three titles in a row. I think Manchester United did it a couple of times and so did Liverpool.
“But Manchester United never dominated Europe. They won a Champions League. Man City are yet to win a Champions League.
“But when you talk about ‘how good they can become?’ This team should look at, yes getting that first Champions League in a couple of weeks, but for the quality they have in terms of the manager, for the quality on the pitch, and also the finances, they can go and buy who they want. They have to be looking to dominate Europe.
“As I said, only one team has ever done that in English football and that’s Liverpool. That’s how high the sky is. That’s what they have to be aiming for.”

CAN MAN CITY WIN THE TREBLE?
This non-stopping winning machine isn’t just getting the job done, but they are well and truly destroying teams.
Not only did they beat Real Madrid, but they put four goals past Carlo Ancelotti’s side in a display of the highest, highest quality and one that will be spoken about in years to come.
Yes, Man City still haven’t won that European title, but you get the feeling, if they get one over the line, then they will dominate in years to come.
