Crystal Palace and Aston Villa now want to sign Mohammed Salisu – who is also a target for Newcastle.

A story from Ghana Soccer Net claims that the Southampton No.22 is a target for both the Eagles and the Villans this summer.

It comes after the Mirror revealed in March that Newcastle would like to sign Mohammed Salisu.

What’s the story?

Well, Southampton look set to be raided by Premier League sides following their relegation to the Championship.

Before the 2022/23 campaign has even ended, it appears Salisu is someone who has caught the eye of a number of top-flight clubs as Crystal Palace and Aston Villa circle.

Ghana Soccer Net add that Manchester United are even taking a look at the Ghana international.

The 24-year-old seems likely to be sold this summer due to his contract situation.

Salisu’s current terms expire in June 2024, and given the fact Southampton are yet to receive any indication that he would sign a new deal, a sale appears to be very possible this summer.

The £10.9m man has made 22 Premier League appearances this season, providing one assist in those outings.

Crystal Palace & Aston Villa must be wary of Salisu

In our view, there are reasons for the south Londoners and the Villans to be sceptical about signing Salisu.

The Ghanaian has been left out of Southampton’s last eight Premier League squads due to question marks over his commitment to the Saints – according to The Athletic.

Ability wise, Salisu is a talented player who can be a real asset to Crystal Palace or Aston Villa.

However – in terms of mentality – question marks over commitment to a side during their fight against relegation is not exactly what supporters want to hear about a potential new signing.

Nevertheless, be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Salisu looks likely to be sold this summer.
