BBC Sport pundit Michael Brown has said that Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford looked short of confidence against Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United at Elland Road in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The former Leeds midfielder has said on BBC Sport that Bamford did not look confident when he stepped up to take the first-half penalty for Sam Allardyce’s side against Newcastle.
Brown later noted that the £7 million (Sky Sports) English striker was feeling fragile.
Bamford had the chance to put Leeds 2-0 up from the penalty spot in the first half.
The striker failed to score.
And then just moments later Callum Wilson scored from the penalty spot for Newcastle.
BBC Sport pundit Michael Brown on Patrick Bamford for Leeds United vs Newcastle United
Brown said about Bamford: “Patrick Bamford just didn’t look confident. He’s stepped in big games in the past but his penalty wasn’t well struck.
“We all know what he has done for Leeds, he’s the figure head at the top of the pitch but he’ll be really disappointed because that’s the big moment in this first half.”
The pundit later added: “Patrick Bamford is going to be feeling a bit fragile but that’s what comes with being a Premier League striker.”

Disappointing
Patrick Bamford is not having the best of times for Leeds United and has not really been great for the Whites all season.
The 29-year-old has scored four goals in the Premier League for Leeds this campaign.
Yes, Bamford has not started as many games as he would have liked to, but even then that is a poor return.
Things have simply not worked out for Bamford the way Leeds and he would have wanted to this season.
