Jose Enrique has posted on his Instagram story that Newcastle United are making a ‘massive mistake’ if they push to sign Neymar Jr from PSG in the summer transfer market.

Newcastle United are set to make a return to the Champions League next season and it would require serious quality in depth to be added to their squad, including current first-team stars being replaced by those higher up the food chain.

Someone like Neymar, for what he has done in his career, certainly fits that bill, especially with the PSG fans turning on him this season.

At 31, the former Barcelona star is heading towards the latter stages of his career, with many feeling that he hasn’t lived up to the Ballon d’Or-winning hype many thought he would reach, although, he still has time.

But he is still an elite-level performer, nonetheless, it has resulted in Newcastle being linked with his talents.

Whilst some would happily see Neymar dancing his way past defenders in the Premier League, it’s a move that former Newcastle left-back Jose Enrique doesn’t want to see, as he posted on his Instagram story

“I love Neymar but this is a no for Newcastle,” wrote Enrique. “The way they are playing football under Eddie, it will be a massive mistake from Newcastle to sign Neymar.”

NEYMAR TO THE PREMIER LEAGUE?

The Brazil international, who has 41 Champions League goals to his name, has always divided opinion and will continue to do so until he either wins the World Cup in the colours of his country or produces performances worthy of him winning the Ballon d’Or.

But he would seriously light up the Premier League stage if he were to join, perhaps not at Newcastle, but a player of Neymar’s quality would certainly bring spark and headlines to a team already winning trophies.

Plus, if he starts doing the business in England’s top-flight, then you will find that a lot of his critics would hide away.
