Simon Jordan has stated that Neymar is a ‘remarkably talented’ player, but he doesn’t think the likes of Newcastle United should be signing the PSG superstar this summer.

Eddie Howe is on the verge of guiding Newcastle to Champions League football for next season and it has opened the door for the transfer rumour mill to throw up everything and anything.

Given that there are issues with Neymar at PSG, it’s highly likely the 31-year-old heads for the exit door and it has been suggested that Newcastle are keen to bring him to St James’ Park.

From a financial standpoint, Newcastle have the money to drop on the table for any player their wish.

Added to that, a return to the Champions League also increases their chances of signing those elite players and Neymar is certainly that.

But, given all the background noise that comes with it, Jordan doesn’t think a Premier League club should go anywhere near the all-action trickster, as he told talkSPORT.

“Neymar is a remarkably talented player,” said Jordan. “I think he represents a generation of players, at times, that I don’t particularly admire, in terms of they are show ponies. But he has marvellous ability. Wonderful player. Seems to be a handful at times.

“Neymar (to the Premier League?) He comes with a load of baggage. A very capable player that moved to PSG. Whilst it might look like on paper that it has been a success there. I don’t think he necessarily has.

“Who would want that aggravation? Who would want the circus that goes with Neymar? There is always someone that would. Again, if you look at the top four or five sides, who in their construct would think Neymar was a useful addition?

“First of all, you would have a transfer fee, then you would have the ridiculous wages that go with it, then you have the entourage and all that goes around him – I don’t see any of them landing in the Premier League.”

NEYMAR IS NOT WORTH THE RISK

It’s understandable if Newcastle want to put their foot down on the accelerator and sign a player of Neymar’s calibre.

But he’s going to cost a lot of money, and whilst PIF can take those hits, it’s not going to exactly guarantee the top results.

What Newcastle have done so far in the transfer market needs to be continued, it just perhaps needs to go up a level, but not to the heights of bringng Neymar on board.
