Over the years, Tottenham have made a habit out of selling or loaning players, only for them to taste success away from Spurs.
Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, Paulinho, Vincent Janssen and many more have departed Tottenham without a single medal, before finding glory elsewhere.
Now, another name can be added to the list.
What’s the story?
Well, Tanguy Ndombele has now secured the Serie A title during his loan spell at Napoli.
The Frenchman – who Tottenham signed in a record £63m deal from Lyon back in 2019 – played 64 minutes on Thursday night as Napoli secured the title with a 1-1 draw away to Udinese.

It is the first piece of silverware Ndombele has won in his career – Pierluigi Gollini is also at Napoli, which makes it two players who left Spurs to win a trophy this season.
The France international has made 30 appearances in Serie A so far this term – scoring one goal – and while he has not been a key cog under Luciano Spalletti, he has certainly played his part.
Ndombele could leave Tottenham for good
For those of you wondering what happens next for Ndombele, he could end up staying in Naples.
Napoli negotiated an option to turn the loan deal into a permanent agreement when initially shaking hands with Spurs back in August.
ESPN believe the option to buy is worth €30m (£26m).
It remains to be seen if Napoli will spend that much on Ndombele, given the fact he was not exactly a key player this season – he made just eight starts in Serie A, with his other 22 appearances coming as a substitute.
Nevertheless, if Napoli do decide to trigger their option to buy, then Tottenham fans will have already seen the last of their club-record signing.
Hopefully, that doesn’t turn out to be the case, as Ndombele would have a blank slate at Tottenham under a new manager after Antonio Conte was sacked, and could turn things around.
