Liverpool want Gabri Veiga and one Spanish reporter sees him as being more likely to join the Reds than Real Madrid.
The Reds are in the market for a new midfielder or two during the summer transfer window.
Jude Bellingham won’t be arriving and the Borussia Dortmund ace now looks set to join Real Madrid instead.
That means Liverpool must look elsewhere for midfield additions and Veiga could be one of them.
Spanish reporter Manu Sainz, who was speaking to AS TV, suggested in March that Liverpool want to sign Celta Viga talent Veiga.
Since has been speaking about Veiga again – and it sounds pretty good for Liverpool at the moment.

Gabri Veiga backed for Liverpool
Sainz has told AS – as quoted by Sport Witness – that he thinks Veiga is heading to the Premier League this summer.
Sainz referenced rumours linking Veiga with a move to Real Madrid.
However, with Real now closing in on Jude Bellingham, signing another midfielder may not be a top priority.
Sainz claims he sees Veiga as being ‘closer to Liverpool’ than Madrid, noting that the Reds have been tracking him for a while now.
Newcastle and Liverpool are both allegedly ready to pay Veiga’s €40million (£35million) release clause this summer.
There is still scope for Veiga to pick the club he wants but Celta may not be able to negotiate much if teams pay the release clause.
“Let’s see what happens with Gabri Veiga. I still see him more in the Premier League (than La Liga),” said Veiga. “It is true what our colleague published a few days ago that Madrid were bidding for Veiga, but I don’t see him close to Madrid. I see him closer to Liverpool, for example, a club that has been following him for a long time.”
“Newcastle is a club that were the first to travel to Vigo to monitor him and you know they are willing to pay the €40m of his release clause. Liverpool are as well. Now the ball is in Veiga’s court. He is going to decide which option he wants because once the club is willing to pay the €40m clause, there is practically no negotiation possible. He can pick what he likes the most,” he added.
Veiga, 20, has taken Spanish football by storm this season.
Veiga has bagged nine goals and four assists for Celta in just 31 appearances, proving to be an enormous threat from midfield.
Celta would no doubt love to keep hold of Veiga but now realise that it just isn’t possible.
Missing out on Bellingham will hurt Liverpool fans for a while yet, but Veiga would still give the Reds a quality young midfielder to build around for years to come – if they can win the race.
