Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has been invited for an interview at Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur, according to Eredivisie reporter Valentijn Driessen.

With only four games remaining, Feyenoord are eight points clear of second-place PSV Eindhoven. Even the most pessimistic supporter would be forgiven for picking out his choice of champagne, a first Eredivisie title since 2017 and a second since the turn of the Century now just two wins away.

No wonder some have suggested that Arne Slot deserves a statue outside De Kuip; immortalised in bronze after a season in which Feyenoord have scored 105 goals, steamrollering almost all before them while playing some of the most watchable football anywhere in Europe.

Slot turned down Leeds United in February. But, with the title almost in the bag, the former AZ Alkmaar boss may soon feel that he has achieved his ambitions in Rotterdam, ready to take on a fresh challenge and follow in Erik ten Hag’s footsteps.

Will Tottenham hire Feyenoord’s Arne Slot as their new manager?

Tottenham famously got cold feet about the now-Manchester United boss following talks in the summer of 2021; hiring Antonio Conte instead. It seems, at lesat, that Daniel Levy and co have learned their lesson.

ESPN report that Tottenham are wary of letting history repeat itself. Spurs are fully aware that, with interest from rival clubs on the rise, they will have to move fast if they are to bring the 44-year-old Dutchman to North Lodnon.

”Slot has been invited by Tottenham for a conversation,” Driessen tells Veronica Inside.

“He will have a conversation (with Spurs).”

Tottenham look set to miss out on Mauricio Pochettino. The former Spurs boss is seemingly throwing himself into the piranha pit that is Chelsea Football Club. Julian Nagelsmann, Ruben Amorim and Vincent Kompany have also entered Levy’s thinking. But Slot remains near the top of the list.

“Feyenoord would like to keep him. I believe they are discussing his contract,” Driessen said last week.

“(Slot earns) two million euros. (His wages) will go to five million net, if he goes to Spurs. Then the choice is easy, isn’t it?”

“Feyenoord can ask what they want, because there is no release clause in the contract.”

“What Guardiola does at Manchester City, Arne Slot does at Feyenoord,” explains Ajax legend Wim Kieft, speaking to De Telegraaf. “(Slot’s) vision and his philosophy is the same. Slot has to work with players of lower quality.”
