Sam Allardyce says he was ‘shocked’ after he was approached to be Leeds United’s next manager.
The Englishman has replaced Javi Gracia in the Leeds United dugout, as he has four Premier League games to keep the Yorkshire club in England’s top flight.
Speaking from Leeds’ training ground, Sam Allardyce added that it took him ‘two seconds’ to say yes to the job – this is how the Whites could line up in his first game in charge against Manchester City.

The 68-year-old has tons of experience and he has kept many teams up during his decades on the touchline.
But there has never been a job that will test him like this, because of the short time he has to keep Leeds in the Premier League – Robbie Keane is set to join him as part of his backroom staff.
Nonetheless, this is what Allardyce told Jim White about the Leeds job when speaking from the training ground, as he told talkSPORT (03/05/23 at 10:10 am).
“Shocked,” said Allardyce about getting approached. “I never thought, at this stage of the season, I thought there would be no jobs offered at all.
“Of course, when the phone popped up with a name that I knew pretty well, then I knew who it was pretty straight away.
“It took me about two seconds to say yes.”

CAN BIG SAM KEEP LEEDS UP?
Perhaps the worst fixture awaits Allardyce first up and that’s a trip to the Etihad. Even if Leeds produce their best-ever performance and play out of their skin, they probably still won’t get a point.
From that perspective, if they can avoid a hammering against the potential soon-to-be Premier League champions, then that in itself would be a result because goal difference also needs to be looked at.
Either way, after that recent hammering at Bournemouth, there now seems an uplift in the Leeds camp with this Allardyce appointment.
