In truth, you could even argue that 14 managers have been sacked as Tottenham fired Cristian Stellini, although the Italian was technically working as an Interim Manager before Ryan Mason took over from him.

Nevertheless, it just goes to show how vital it is for top-flight clubs to stay in the Premier League nowadays.

The financial boost given to clubs in England’s top division is huge, especially for those who have been in the Premier League for a while now and are dependent on that revenue stream.

As the BBC shows, the Premier League is by far the most lucrative division across Europe.

Dropping into the Championship can therefore have seismic impacts on how a football club operates, which certainly doesn’t give those in the dugout much room for error, as the volume of sackings this season proves.

It has been a truly chaotic campaign, and with a number of clubs yet to secure their Premier League status, we could even see more sackings before the season is over.
