Ivan Toney is reportedly open to leaving Brentford in the summer transfer window amid interest from Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has told CaughtOffSide that Toney is open to moving to a top club at the end of the season.

Romano has referenced interest in the England international striker from Newcastle, Manchester United and Chelsea in the 27-year-old striker.

The Telegraph reported last month that Toney is among the players Newcastle are keeping tabs on with a view to a summer move.

The striker was on the books of the Magpies from 2015 until 2018 and failed to make a huge impact in the first team.

Football Insider reported last month that Manchester United and Chelsea are also keen on Toney, who is facing a possible ban.

Newcastle United target Ivan Toney open to Brentford exit

Romano said: “Things with Ivan Toney could move in the summer.

“At the moment there’s not something concrete with any of these clubs, but I’m told he’s open to make a top club move in the summer so it’s one to watch for sure. However, there’s no clarity on the player’s asking price yet.”

HITC Verdict: Toney would be a good signing for Newcastle

In our view, Ivan Toney would be a very good signing for Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.

The England international striker has improved a lot over the years and has proved that he is a quality player who can hold his own in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old has scored 20 goals and given four assists in 32 Premier League matches for Brentford this season.

Toney scored 12 goals and provided five assists in 32 league starts for the Bees last season.
