Tottenham Hotspur interim manager Ryan Mason has said that Liverpool forward Diogo Jota should have been sent off during the Premier League game at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
While speaking to BBC MOTD, Mason criticised Jota for “dangerous play” during the match between Liverpool and Tottenham.
The Tottenham interim-manager was not impressed by the £140,000-a-week (Spotrac) forward’s challenge on Spurs midfielder Oliver Skipp.
Jota and Skipp were involved in an incident in the second half.
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers forward’s challenge on the Tottenham midfielder saw the latter go off the pitch with a head wound.
Jota scored the winner for Liverpool in the final minutes of the game.
The Reds won the Premier League match 4-3.

Mason said: “I need an explanation, I want to know why the referee on the pitch didn’t see it, but also why an experienced one in the VAR room can’t.
“It’s hard to justify how that isn’t a red card. It ticks all the boxes for dangerous play so it’s hard to understand why.”

Moving on
Now, we can understand why Tottenham Hotspur interim manager Ryan Mason is not happy with the incident involving Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, especially after he eventually scored the winner.
Had Jota been sent off then, then Tottenham could have gone on to win the Premier League game.
However, there is nothing that Mason can do now.
Tottenham just have to move on.
