Robbie Keane has said that Tottenham Hotspur should appoint Brendan Rodgers as the new manager.

The former Tottenham striker has said on Sky Sports Premier League (7:20pm, April 30, 2023) that Rodgers would bring stability to Spurs.

Ryan Mason is in temporary charge of the Tottenham first team for the rest of the season.

Rodgers has been linked with the manageable role at Spurs at the end of the season.

Football Insider have reported that Tottenham admire the 50-year-old former Liverpool and Celtic boss, who recently parted company with Leicester City.

Brendan Rodgers backed for Tottenham Hotspur manager’s job

Keane said: “I think Brendan Rodgers could bring stability to the club, the way he plays the game.”

HITC Verdict: Potentially perfect for Spurs

In our view, Brendan Rodgers would be a very good managerial appointment for Tottenham Hotspur.

Okay, Rodgers really struggled at Leicester this season, but we cannot ignore that the 50-year-old manager almost guided the Foxes to UEFA Champions League qualification in previous campaigns.

And he also almost Liverpool to the Premier League title and won trophies after trophies with Celtic in Scotland.

Rodgers is someone who can build teams, works well with young players, can manage big-name footballers, and has extensive experience of working in the Premier League.

Criticism for Cristian Romero

Meanwhile, former Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp has slammed central defender Cristian Romero for his performance against Liverpool at the weekend.

The Sky Sports pundit was not impressed by how Romero defended for Tottenham in their defeat to Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday.

Redknapp said about Romero on Sky Sports Premier League (6:58pm, April 30, 2023): “He is trying to win every ball, he goes running into areas.

“You have got to remember when you are going to be like that, it’s rash, you are making it incredibly difficult for the players alongside because they have got no idea what you are going to do as a defender.”
