Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United have been linked with Kaoru Mitoma, but his Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto de Zerbi has publicly told the winger not to leave in the summer transfer window.

As relayed by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, De Zerbi has said that he wants Mitoma to stay at Brighton for one more season at least.

The Italian manager has suggested that the 25-year-old Japan international winger’s career would be better served if he stayed at Brighton for one more season.

Arsenal and Newcastle have been linked with Mitoma.

CM reported in February 2023 that Arsenal want to sign the winger in the summer transfer window.

The Telegraph claimed earlier this month that Newcastle want to bring the Japanese star to St. James’ Park for next season and beyond.

HITC Verdict: Summer transfer could happen

In our view, Arsenal or Newcastle United could be able to sign Kaoru Mitoma from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window.

Yes, Brighton are having a wonderful season, but Arsenal and Newcastle are bigger clubs.

The Gunners could win the Premier League title this season, while the Magpies could establish themselves as regulars in the UEFA Champions League in the coming years.

True, Brighton will want a lot of money for the winger, but if the Japanese star decides to move on, then the Seagulls could eventually have to cash in on him.
