Wilfried Gnonto is now set to return to the starting XI for Leeds United after a rumour emerged from Elland Road.
The Italy international has bizarrely been left out of the lineup by Javi Gracia ever since starring in the 4-2 win against Wolves back on Saturday 18th March.
Now – in our view at least – Gnonto is set to return.
What’s the story?
Well, the rumour coming from Leeds – as reported by The Athletic – is that Luis Sinisterra will miss the rest of the season.
The Colombia international damaged his ankle in the 1-1 draw against Leicester, and the issue will now sideline him for the final five Premier League games.
Both Sinisterra and Gnonto usually operate on the left flank, so if the Italian doesn’t come in for the South American, we will be baffled.
Gracia could decide to throw Georginio Rutter into the starting XI instead.
However, that would represent a risky decision seeing as the Frenchman only arrived at Leeds in January and is yet to prove himself, whereas everybody knows what Gnonto can do.

The 19-year-old looked capable of being a PFA Young Player of the Year contender earlier this season after bursting onto the scene, notably scoring against Manchester United at Old Trafford as well as a remarkable volley against Cardiff to put his name up in lights.
Hopefully – while it is sad to see Sinisterra injured – Gnonto will be given a chance to step up in his absence.
Gnonto can save Leeds
Things are looking ominous for Leeds as they sit just one point above the relegation zone, and still have to face Manchester City, Newcastle and Tottenham.
However – as he showed at Old Trafford – Gnonto doesn’t seem to care who the opposition are.
The teenager is capable of delivering brave performances which defy his years, and can provide the spark needed to inspire his teammates to survival.
If Gracia chooses not to start Gnonto in the absence of Sinisterra – however – it would be a truly strange decision, one that could cost Leeds their Premier League status.
