Joe Willock may have failed to make an impact at Arsenal under manager Mikel Arteta, but Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe is really happy with the midfielder.

After the match against Tottenham Hotspur at St. James’ Park on Sunday, Newcastle boss Howe raved about Willock, who cost the Magpies £25 million (Sky Sports) in transfer fees when they signed him on a permanent contract from Arsenal in the summer of 2021.

Howe said on Sky Sports Premier League (4:09pm, April 23, 2023) that Willock has delivered for Newcastle and has been incredible.

The Magpies got the better of Tottenham 6-1 at home in the Premier League this past weekend.

Willock provided an assist.

The 23-year-old produced a brilliant performance for Newcastle in the middle of the park and was very dynamic and combative in his approach.

Praise for former Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock

Howe said about Willock: “I think he has got a little bit of everything. Off the ball was probably his biggest area for improvement.

“He has knuckled down, taken everything on board and delivered. He has produced some incredible performances for us.”

Flourishing away from Arsenal

Joe Willock is doing really well away from Arsenal and has become an important player for Newcastle United.

And he will get better.

Let us not forget that Willock is only 23 years of age.

The Englishman has time on his hands to improve and develop further.

Willock has made 26 starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League for Newcastle this season.

The midfielder has scored three goals and given five assists in those games.
