Micah Richards has raved about Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli and has said that the Gunners star would cause problems for Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Wednesday evening.

The former City star has said on BBC Radio 5 Live that he is surprised that no one is praising Arsenal and Brazil international forward Martinelli.

Richards has noted that the £6 million (Goal) star’s pace is frightening.

The BBC Sport pundit has said that while people talk about the likes of Martin Odegaard, William Saliba and Gabriel, not many are showing enough love for their 21-year-old Arsenal teammate Martinelli.

The Arsenal no. 11 has scored 15 goals and given five assists in 31 Premier League starts so far this season.

Richard said about Martinelli: “His pace is frightening. Everyone has talked about Saka and Odegaard, and the two defenders, Gabriel, Saliba, Ramsdale, but not that many people talk about Martinelli. In transition, he is frightening.”

HITC Verdict: Gem of a player

In our view, Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli is one of the best young players in the Premier League and will be massive against Manchester City.

Now, while it is not a must-win game for the Gunners, Mikel Arteta’s side simply cannot afford to lose to defending champions City.

Martinelli is set to start for Arsenal against the Citizens.

As Richards has pointed out, the Brazil international is a very quick player who is skilful on the ball and works hard off it.

We believe that City will find it hard to keep Martinelli quiet this week.
