Jamie O’Hara insists there are only six members of the current Tottenham Hotspur squad he would keep hold of following Sunday’s 6-1 Premier League hammering at Newcastle United.

During a traumatic afternoon on Tyneside, Tottenham were 5-0 down and staring down the barrel of total humiliation in about the time it takes to watch an episode of The Simpsons.

It was 1-0 after two minutes. 2-0 after six. The clock hadn’t even reached double figures before Jacob Murphy thumped a 25-yard fizzer past a rooted Hugo Lloris. Alexander Isak’s quickfire brace before the 21st minute was the final straw for many of the Spurs supporters hidden away in the Gods at St James’ Park; the away end filtering out quicker than a Cinema audience for Adam Sandler’s Jack and Jill.

“They are a disgrace. Watching that yesterday was an absolute disaster. They should be ashamed of themselves,” former Spurs midfielder O’Hara tells talkSPORT (24 April, 9am).

“Not one of them showed any pride or passion for the football club. We have all played in games when its poor but he very least (the fans) can expect is a level of effort or commitment.

“It just made me ashamed of being a spurs fan. Arsenal have got passion and desire. That lot had nothing to offer the Tottenham shirt, and they shouldn’t be wearing it again .

“Those players are totally switched off.”

When quizzed about which players O’Hara would happily retain heading into 2023/24, his tally stopped at a measly six. And Cristian Romero, the World Cup winning Argentine at fault for at least one of Newcastle’s goals, was not among them.

“The ones that have got to leave are the ones who don’t want to be there,” O’Hara adds. “(The ones who) show no desire, hunger or passion. You can be a bang average player but give everything for the shirt.

“People are going to accept you being average. What people cannot accept is you not showing heart and passion

“The only people I would really want to keep are (Harry) Kane, (Heung-Min) Son, (Pierre-Emile) Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur, Pedro Porro because he’s a new signing.

“Oliver Skipp, I like him. He lacks quality but he’s got passion for the club. The rest of them, get rid. Even Romero. You never know which Romero is going to turn up. He is all over the place.”
