Darren Bent says Hugo Lloris ‘hasn’t played consistently well’ for Tottenham Hotspur since 2018 after their 6-1 defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday.
The Tottenham captain was hooked at half-time because of injury, with his team 5-0 down after just 20 minutes and producing their most humiliating performance in recent years.
Back in 2018, Hugo Lloris was winning the 2018 World Cup with France, a final where he made a mistake.

That has been the 36-year-old’s problem over the years, and most certainly this season, his inability to stop those error-prone ways that have cost his team points.
From the north London derby to Tottenham’s 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa, the £100k-a-week star (Spotrac) can count himself lucky that he still starts matches.
But going by Bent’s comments, the Frenchman is probably lucky that he has been at the club as long he has been, as he told Premier League Productions (24/04/23 at 2:30 PM).
“It’s not like they haven’t got players in their squad that aren’t experienced,” said Bent. “You have two World Cup winners in your squad.
“You have a goalkeeper who I haven’t seen him play well consistently for a long time. Since probably 2018. I know you can’t take shots at someone who has won the World Cup, but I don’t think he did great at that World Cup. He made mistakes. He made a mistake in the final. That’s been an issue.”

LLORIS’ TIME IS UP
The experienced goalkeeper, who is Tottenham’s current longest-serving player, after joining in 2012, should have left or been replaced many years ago.
He isn’t a top-quality keeper anymore and he isn’t a player worthy of being a number one, especially for a team trying to push for Champions League football.
The issue for Spurs is that they haven’t looked to replace him, instead, brought in short-term gaps from Joe Hart to current back-up star, Fraser Forster, who weren’t or aren’t at the age to be long-term answers for Tottenham.
