Newcastle United are increasingly confident of signing Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney and a summer move is expected to go through.
That is according to a report from The Sun, who claim that Tierney is expected to make the move to St James’ Park.
It’s stated that Eddie Howe wants to bring in an attacking threat at left back for next season and beyond.
Dan Burn isn’t quite that player and Matt Targett has only started four games this season.
Tierney has become Howe’s top target and sources close to the Scot feel a move to Newcastle is ‘increasingly likely’.
Arsenal are demanding at least £30million for Tierney but money shouldn’t be much of an issue for the Magpies.
The Gunners ace hasn’t featured as much as he would have hoped, starting just five Premier League games.
Tierney can’t take another season of sitting on the bench at Arsenal and Newcastle may be willing to swoop in.

Eddie Howe could finally sign Kieran Tierney
Tierney would certainly provide more of an attacking threat at left back than Dan Burn.
Having a full back duo of Tierney and Kieran Trippier would be impressive for Newcastle and Howe has wanted him for a while now.
Howe allegedly made Tierney his top target for the 2018 summer transfer window at Bournemouth.
No deal was done as Tierney stayed at Celtic for one more year before completing his big move to Arsenal.
Howe now has a golden chance to finally land Tierney after all, having watched him struggle for starts at the Emirates Stadium.
Hailed as an ‘outstanding’ player by Brendan Rodgers, Tierney has been pushed down the pecking order by Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Tierney appears to be interested in joining Newcastle and that will only grow if the Magpies can secure Champions League football.
