Stan Collymore has suggested that reported Tottenham Hotspur managerial target Vincent Kompany would be a good appointment for Chelsea.

The former Liverpool striker has explained in CaughtOffSide why he thinks that the Burnley manager would be a good fit at Chelsea.

Kompany has been linked with both Tottenham and Chelsea.

The former Manchester City defender has already guided Burnley to automatic promotion to the Premier League for next season.

Earlier this week, The Daily Mail reported that Tottenham want to appoint Burnley boss Kompany as their new manager.

The London Evening Standard have claimed that the Belgian is on the four-man shortlist of managers that Chelsea are looking at.

Stan Collymore on Vincent Kompany amid Tottenham and Chelsea interest

Collymore wrote: “It’s interesting that I’ve just heard that Vincent Kompany has been mentioned for the Chelsea job alongside Nagelsmann, Pochettino and somebody else.

“Now, Vinny Kompany would be Graham Potter but with the trophies and the medals to prove he was a bona fide Premier League legend which is always difficult to get across in a dressing room.

“The Chelsea players certainly wouldn’t be able to get one over on him in the same way as they did with Graham Potter. He’s obviously a very bright guy, he went away and did a masters as well as then going to Anderlecht to cut his teeth in Belgium.”

HITC Verdict: Chelsea over Tottenham for Kompany

In our view, Vincent Kompany is likely to pick Chelsea over Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea are a bigger club than Spurs and are used to winning major trophies and compete in major European competitions on a regular basis.

Yes, the Blues are having a bad season now, but that does not change the big picture.

We believe that Chelsea would be more appealing to Kompany than Spurs would.

After all, Tottenham’s ambitious every season is to finish in the top four of the Premier League table, not to win the title.
