A report has claimed that Aston Villa have re-ignited their transfer pursuit for Arsenal attacker Emile Smith-Rowe.

The 22-year-old has been on the periphery of things at the Emirates Stadium this season, as he is yet to start a Premier League game so far due to injury and a settle attacking setup.

As a result, it seems like Aston Villa are hoping to complete a transfer for Emile Smith-Rowe next season.

Aston Villa interested in Smith-Rowe summer transfer

The Gunners wonderkid burst onto the scene under Unai Emery’s time in charge of the club, as he was the one who first gave the attacker alongside Bukayo Saka their big breaks in the first-team.

While Smith-Rowe kicked on since then, scoring a number of vital goals for Mikel Arteta’s side off the bench in the previous campaign, he has found it a challenge to reclaim his place in the starting XI.

With that in mind, talkSPORT have reported that Aston Villa are keen on a transfer for Emile Smith-Rowe from Arsenal next season.

Famously, Villa tried to sign the Hale End starlet in the summer of 2021 but the move failed to come to fruition.

HITC View: No chance Arsenal sell him anytime soon

While things have not been all rosy for the youngster, dubbed as ‘special’ by Jamie Carragher (via Daily Mail) and compared to Robert Pires by Rio Ferdinand (via FIVE YouTube channel), he still remains a top talent.

Unlike generational talents like Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe who seemingly never get stopped in their tracks, progress is not linear in a majority of young players’ careers.

Arsenal will know the best, which is why they are likely to keep Emile Smith-Rowe at the club, rejecting a transfer approach from Aston Villa.

Instead, the plan at London Colney must be to find a way to make Smith-Rowe a starter and manage his injuries next season.
