While Evan Ferguson has constantly been touted as the ideal striker to replace Harry Kane at Tottenham Hotspur, Kelechi Iheanacho could prove to be the saviour that is yet to be discussed.
The aforementioned claim might raise eyebrows but there are a multitude of reasons why the £25 million (Guardian) man may be the all-round perfect signing.
HITC View: Kane out, Iheanacho at Tottenham ticks every box
Unlike Evan Ferguson, who is likely to demand a massive fee, due to his stock being sky-high and Brighton being an expert selling club, the same cannot be said for the Nigerian international.
With Kelechi Iheanacho set to become a free agent in 2024 coupled with the fact that Leicester could be relegated, Tottenham could end up signing their Harry Kane replacement for a meagre free in relation to his quality.
Whichever striker Spurs bring in to replace the England international will need to offer much more than just goals, considering the lack of creativity in the side.
Iheanacho, much like Tottenham vice-captain Kane is anything but just a pure goalscorer, as his quick feet, weight of pass and ability to drop deep and in wider position makes him such a complete forward.
Ironically, against the Lilywhites, the 26-year-old showed an element of la pausa, which is a Spanish term for drawing defenders in by staying patient on the ball before making the final pass.

Case in point: The former Manchester City No.9’s assist to James Maddison, where he did not lose his composure and calmly played a delightful pass for the Englishman to simply finish past Fraser Forster.
While some may sneer at Kelechi Iheanacho being suggested to replace Harry Kane at Tottenham, it is key to understand how under-used the former has been at Leicester for the past couple of seasons.
For context, in the 2020/2021 campaign, the well-rounded marksman started in the last 13 league games, scoring 11 goals for the Foxes.
Despite Iheanacho being in red-hot form, Rodgers instead chose to start him only 13 and now 7 times this season, despite Vardy being over the hill and Daka failing to live up to the billing.
At Tottenham, Iheanacho would be the main man if Kane departs, and his all-round game is comprehensive enough for him to prove as a surprisingly smart successor to one of his generation’s best strikers.
And that too, at a cut-price fee, which would allow the club to rebuild by focusing on a multitude of positions rather than blowing their budget from Harry Kane’s sale on a replacement.
