Newcastle United are interested in signing Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams and have been keeping tabs on his progress this season.
That’s according to The Times, who claim that Newcastle have ‘kept tabs’ on Adams this season.
It’s suggested that Leeds will be at risk of losing a number of key players if they drop into the Championship.
Adams would certainly fit that criteria having been one of few players to shine this season.
Signed from RB Leipzig for £20million last summer, Adams was brought in as a replacement for Kalvin Phillips.
The 24-year-old reunited with his former boss Jesse Marsch having worked together at New York Red Bulls and RB Leipzig.
Adams has certainly impressed whilst anchoring the Leeds midfield and was hailed for his ‘immense’ performance for the United States at the World Cup in Qatar.
Currently out injured after having surgery on a hamstring injury, Adams is really missed in the Leeds midfield.
It’s unclear if Adams will play again this season but if Leeds do drop out of the Premier League, interest will be almost immediate.

Tyler Adams makes sense for Newcastle United
Newcastle are in the market for a defensive midfielder this summer.
Bringing in somebody to sit in front of the back four and free up Bruno Guimaraes to go forward would be ideal.
Adams has shown that he can play that role to a high level and he still has plenty of untapped potential.
Adams also has a season of Premier League football under his belt; Eddie Howe likes players proven in English football.
The American international has been impressive this term and may just be the man Newcastle are seeking.
The Magpies won’t be short of cash this summer but would no doubt love to try and capitalise if Leeds are relegated by engineering a deal for Adams.
