Newcastle United are likely to sell Allan Saint-Maximin in the summer transfer window amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Jones has told GiveMeSport that it is unlikely that Saint-Maximin will be at Newcastle next season.

The journalist has given his take on the situation of the French winger at the Premier League club at the moment, as you can read below.

Saint-Maximin has been linked with a move to Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

According to the Sunday People (19/2; pg 62), Tottenham have been following the 26-year-old for a while and could make a move for the Newcastle player in the summer transfer window.

Newcastle stance on Tottenham target Allan Saint-Maximin

Jones said: “I think Allan Saint-Maximin is unlikely to be there. We’ve talked about this before quite a lot. Nothing has changed, but they’re looking to level up the team.

“Also, how Saint-Maximin’s contract works regarding wages and appearances makes him more vulnerable to a sale.

“That’s my understanding of the situation. So, I think that he could well leave.”

HITC Verdict: Summer exit likely

In our view, Newcastle United are likely to cash in on Allan Saint-Maximin at the end of the season, and we believe that Tottenham Hotspur could be able to sign the winger in the summer transfer window.

Now, of course, you could argue whether the winger is actually going to make Tottenham better.

After all, if the 26-year-old is not able to play regularly for the Magpies, then it is unlikely that he will make Spurs that much better than they are now.

Saint-Maximin has made 11 starts and nine substitute appearances in the Premier League for Newcastle so far this season.

The winger has scored one goal and given five assists in those games.
