Liverpool transfer target Levi Colwill is waiting to see who Chelsea appoint as their new manager before committing to the club.

That is according to a report from The Athletic, who claim that Colwill is delaying a decision on his future.

It’s stated that Colwill wants to see who Chelsea bring in as their new manager following Graham Potter’s exit.

Colwill is aware that a new manager may have transfer targets in mind for his position.

The defender doesn’t want to commit his long-term future to the Blues without knowing if he will be wanted by the new boss.

It’s unclear just when Chelsea will be appointing their new boss but Colwill is watching with real interest.

Liverpool face a wait over Levi Colwill

Colwill is currently on loan at Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 20-year-old has been shining for the Seagulls and has now attracted major interest off the back of his displays.

The London Evening Standard report that Liverpool and Manchester City both want to sign Colwill this summer.

Left-sided defender are hot commodities in the modern game and Colwill fits that bill.

Liverpool have already been linked with Chelsea duo Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher, with Colwill now wanted as Jurgen Klopp chases a left-footed centre back.

Chelsea understandably want to give Colwill a long-term contract to stay at Stamford Bridge.

It would be something of a nightmare for Chelsea to lose Colwill to a top Premier League rival.

Chelsea do have a certain level of control here as Colwill is still under contract until 2025, but they still need to figure out the defender’s future.

Branded ‘the new John Terry’, Colwill is one of the top youngsters on Chelsea’s books but his future is up in the air heading into the summer.
