Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Keylor Navas has opened the door to a move to Mexico and Club America coach Fernando Ortiz would certainly consider bringing in the Premier League veteran if the opportunity arrives.
While the Costa Rica international was happy to swap Paris Saint-Germain for the banks of the Trent during the January transfer window – pushing for an exit in pursuit of more regular first-team football – how would he feel about going from the Champions League to the Championship?
Not particularly positive, we would imagine.

With Nottingham Forest circling the plughole and slipping further and further towards the second-tier sewer, the chances of Navas turning his loan deal into permanent transfer already look slim.
Especially with the former Real Madrid glovesman speaking publicly about his interest in a move back across the Atlantic after over a decade on European soil.
“Mexico has some great clubs,” Navas tells Paramount Plus. “I’d like to play for Club America, I really would.”
Will Keylor Navas leave Nottingham Forest this summer?
Club America, 13 time champions of the Mexican top flight, already have fellow veterans Jonathan dos Santos and Miguel Layun in their ranks. 36-year-old Navas, meanwhile, is likely to be available for transfer this summer having lost his place to Gianluigi Donnarumma at parent club PSG.
“Everyone wants to play for Mexico’s biggest club,” Club America coach Fernando Ortiz says in quotes reported by AS.
“If the chance came about and he were in the right kind of nick, we’d look at whether we want to add Keylor to our options in the position.”
Navas, like fellow 30-something Felipe, has been outstanding since arriving at Nottingham Forest in January; a rare bright spark in a terrible run of form from Steve Cooper’s team. In fact, without him against Manchester United on Sunday, a 2-0 defeat at the City Ground would have become a damn-sight more lopsided.
“I just said to Keylor that today he only saved mine!” Bruno Fernandes sighs after the three-time Champions League winner tipped his fizzing shot onto the crossbar, the best of his many, many saves during a one-sided game.
“In the first half the one with the little deflection and the second half an amazing save.”
