Gabby Agbonlahor has backed Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to secure the transfers of Moises Caicedo and Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher and Mason Mount after they received a transfer blow for Jude Bellingham.

The former Premier League striker thinks Moises Caicedo would be a ‘great signing’ for the Reds, whilst he thinks Conor Gallagher and Mason Mount ‘would help’ Liverpool if they were to join the club in the summer.

Of course, the Liverpool fans would prefer Jude Bellingham on their books – but the Times suggested on April 11 that they have pulled out of the race for his signature.

That dream signing for the Anfield faithful is falling further and further away, but is there plenty of fish in the sea for Jurgen Klopp to improve his squad for next season?

With Mason Mount’s contract at Stamford Bridge up in the air, there have been suggestions that Liverpool are keen on the player – Frank Lampard, after being named Chelsea boss again, spoke about the playmaker’s situation.

But even if the likes of Mount, Gallagher and Caicedo are brought in next season by Liverpool, former Premier League striker Agbonlahor doesn’t think it will be enough to get them back on top, as he told talkSPORT Breakfast (12/04/23 at 6:30 am).

“Mason Mount would go in and help,” said Agbonlahor. “Caicedo would be a great signing. Gallagher would help. But it’s not going to get Liverpool to where they want to be or where their fans are used to.

“Winning the Champions League and being up there in the Premier League. That’s not good enough to get Liverpool back with Manchester City and Arsenal, so I can see the frustration from Liverpool fans. Go out and get Bellingham. Make a statement. It’s frustrating.”

LIVERPOOL’S PREVIOUS DEALS

Whilst it’s understandable why every Liverpool fan wants Bellingham on board, if you look at what got the club back to the top, it wasn’t those big marquee signings.

From Gini Wijnaldum, who joined from then-relegated Newcastle United to the capture of Andy Robertson from Hull City.

It’s those low-key signings that have worked wonders at Liverpool, and perhaps, this Bellingham news might be a blessing in disguise.
