Arsenal are now joining Liverpool in the race to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch at the end of the season.

The Gunners are widely expected to go for a couple of new midfielders this summer with Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo linked.

Arsenal could look outside of the Premier League though and Bayern talent Gravenberch is thought to be a target.

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Arsenal are watching Gravenberch’s situation.

It’s stated that no negotiations have taken place just yet but Gravenberch may be available this summer.

The final decision rests with Thomas Tuchel, who has just come in as Bayern boss and is still assessing his squad.

Arsenal will be left waiting to hear if Tuchel wants to keep Gravenberch or let him go with Edu watching very closely.

Arsenal face Liverpool competition for Ryan Gravenberch

News of Arsenal’s interest in a summer deal for Gravenberch comes after the Gunners seemingly had a look in January too.

90Min reported that Arsenal wanted to take Gravenberch on loan in January but he chose to stay at Bayern.

It’s no great surprise that Arsenal are reigniting their interest in the Dutchman.

The 20-year-old has started just one Bundesliga game this season and come off the bench 16 times.

Gravenberch is being wasted at Bayern right now and, just a year since leaving Ajax, he could be on the move again.

Arsenal seem to really like Gravenberch based on that January and now summer interest, but Liverpool are a major problem.

The Liverpool Echo reported last week that the Reds have ‘significant interest’ in signing the Bayern ace.

Liverpool are desperate for midfielders this summer and may want to push past Arsenal in the race for Gravenberch.

Branded ‘very dominant’ by his former coach Brian Tevreden, Gravenberch needs to get back to playing regularly – and may need to pick between Arsenal and Liverpool for his next home.
