Nottingham Forest showed an interest in Viktor Tsygankov in January and the La Liga newbie is now being tipped for a potential move to Premier League giants Manchester City.
While the likes of Danilo, Felipe and Jonjo Shelvey have played their part at Nottingham Forest since arriving in the winter, none of Steve Cooper’s new recruits has made an impact quite like Tsygankov in Catalonia.
A bargain £4 million acquisition from Dynamo Kiev, the Ukraine international has three goals and three assists already across just six La Liga starts for Girona. It is no coincidence that, with Tsygankov in the team, Girona have climbed all the way up to 11th place; relegation fears suitably becalmed.

Now, plenty of players have joined Girona from City Group partners Manchester City over the last few years, usually on loan. Not many have moved in the other direction, however.
But could Tsygankov buck that particular trend? Ukrainian reporter Igor Tsyganyk believes so.
Could Manchester City make a move for Viktor Tsygankov?
“Girona is a club managed by Pep Guardiola’s brother,” Tsyganyk explains on his YouTube channel.
Pere Guardiola is a board member at the Estadi Montilivi.
“Manchester City? It is quite possible that such a situation could happen,” the reporter adds. “If Tsygankov continues to perform and keeps bringing the benefits that he is currently bringing to Girona, then I think Manchester City will be the first on the list of applicants (to sign him).
“As far as I understand, the best Spanish clubs — those that are richer and fighting for the highest places — are already considering Tsygankov as a potential target for the summer.
“An Atletico or a Villarreal will definitely pay attention to Viktor Tsygankov. He has a very good future. And I predict that this year will be his last in Girona.”
Tsygankov, who was once likened to Gareth Bale, is at his most effective when drifting in from the left-hand side. According to reports, Nottingham Forest and Brentford both expressed an interest in January. That was shortly before the City Football Group placed him in their Spanish branch.
“He looks a really, really good player. A good bit of business from the City Group,” Spanish expert Terry Gibson tells El Tel’s La Liga Weekly podcast.
“He looks a real talent. His play so far has been excellent. He’s been excellent in every game. He’s a huge contribution towards Girona playing their way out of trouble.”
