Liverpool have held productive talks over a deal to finally snap up Mason Mount from Chelsea this summer.

The Reds need to add new midfield quality this summer and appear to have made Mount a key target.

Out of contract in 2024 and seemingly not signing a new deal at Chelsea, Mount looks set to leave this summer.

Liverpool have been heavily linked for weeks now and it looks like progress is being made.

Goal report that Liverpool have held productive talks over a deal to sign Mount from tonight’s Premier League opponents.

It’s stated Liverpool are happy to meet Mount’s wage demands.

The Daily Mail claimed in February that Mount wants to treble his £80,000-a-week wages, meaning he is demanding close to £250,000-a-week.

Liverpool seem happy to pay that kind of money having wanted Mount for many years.

The report claims that Liverpool came close to signing Mount at Under-16 level with Michael Beale key to the pursuit.

The now-Rangers boss coached Mount at Chelsea and wanted to reunite in the Anfield ranks.

That move didn’t happen but Mount may finally find his way to Merseyside this summer.

Liverpool seem to be clear favourites for Mason Mount

A player of Mount’s ability is always going to attract major interest.

There have been links to Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Bayern Munich, even Tottenham Hotspur.

Yet none of those rumours have been nearly as strong as the links to Liverpool.

TalkSPORT reported in March that Liverpool were gaining confidence in their pursuit of the Chelsea midfielder.

The Athletic claimed last week that Chelsea are seeking around £70million for Mount but Liverpool will surely try to bring that price down.

Mount’s work rate, energy and ability on the ball may be just what Liverpool need.

A deal for Mount may mean Jude Bellingham isn’t heading to Anfield, but Liverpool could build their new midfield around Mount instead.
