Jack Wilshere has admitted that he wants Arsenal talent Ethan Nwaneri not to push for a transfer in the summer.

Last Friday, it was reported that Liverpool are plotting a swoop for the 16-year-old and that Mikel Arteta’s side can do ‘very little’ from stopping him from leaving.

But Arsenal U-18s head coach Jack Wilshere has expressed his desire to see Ethan Nwaneri stay put instead of accepting a transfer away from his boyhood club.

Wilshere wants Nwaneri stay amid transfer interest

The teenage attacker is viewed as one of the most talented youngsters to have come through the ranks from the prestigious Hale End academy.

The fact that Mikel Arteta deemed Nwaneri ready to make his Premier League debut against Brentford this season at 15 years and 181 days, becoming the youngest player ever to do so speaks volumes about his talent.

But as clubs continue to circle around Ethan Nwaneri in hopes of a potential transfer, Jack Wilshere has admitted that his desire remains that he stays at Arsenal.

“We all hope he stays because he’s an exceptional talent. As coaches, we don’t get involved and we don’t talk about that. I think we have to make it clear we don’t talk about that. That’s nothing. Our job is to develop Ethan to help him when he goes with the first-team”, he told GOAL.

In our view: The youngster should listen to Wilshere’s advice

While Ethan Nwaneri is a lot more developed than the average youngster, which may encourage him to push for a transfer in search of game time, Jack Wilshere and many within Arsenal already deem him as a special talent.

As a result, it is likely that in the next couple of years, he could cement his status as a first-team player.

Considering Mikel Arteta’s side have a track record of elevating young players to the next level and already have one of the most exciting projects at their disposal, he should prioritize staying at the club.
