Chaves ace Bruno Lange is ‘adaptable’ enough to thrive in the Premier League should he join Leeds United or Nottingham Forest during the summer transfer window.
That is according to a man who knows Langa better than most.
Luis Goncalves coached the highly-rated left-back during his time in charge of the Mozambique national team, with the diminutive 25-year-old coming on leaps and bounds since then.

Lange’s contract expires in 2024.
O Jogo say that Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Lille and even Portuguese giants Benfica are expressing an interest, in the knowledge that Chaves may be forced to sell Langa on the cheap in the coming months.
And Goncalves is convinced that his former charge can ‘adapt’ to whichever league and whichever club he finds himself in.
Leeds and Nottingham Forest like Bruno Langa
“Bruno Langa has evolved a lot, mainly in the defensive phase,” says his former boss (O Jogo). “I am not surprised by the interest of other clubs, perhaps also Benfica. Bruno Langa is a quality player with enormous potential.”
Benfica are prioritising a new left-back with Alex Grimaldo set to leave on a free transfer. Junior Firpo, meanwhile, is facing an uncertain future at Leeds. Nottingham Forest could also lose a left-sided defender with Renan Lodi only on loan from Atletico Madrid.
“(Langa) is very strong in the execution of set pieces,” Goncalves adds. “He is adaptable. If he’s going to play in Portugal, France or England, it will depend a lot on the club and the coach he finds.
“But I believe he will be able to adapt to any reality.
“He’s less anxious in the game, more balanced in defending. (He has a greater) understanding when to attack or not. He’s very mature.”
A left-back by trade, Langa can also play at centre-half and in midfield. Hence Goncalves’ regular use of the word ‘adaptable’.
“I wouldn’t have been surprised if he had left last season,” adds former Chaves team-mate Joao Batxi. “Now, we are talking about it because he is proving himself in the league.
“The games played, the experience, have already prepared him for the next step. Simplicity helps to define him. He has an easy smile. He is fearless when playing and stands out for being always confident.”
